Why Should Customers Do Business With You? Here is one of the best pieces of advice you’ll ever hear: NEVER make an appointment with a customer unless you can answer why customers should do business with you. Your answer must show a benefit to the customer, who will readily do business with you if you can make him feel good, solve his problem, or both. Actually, there is a business benefit and a personal benefit and they are often interlinked. You can calculate the economic benefits the product will provide to the customer and the consequences to the customer of not going with the recommended product. It’s not always the same for a consumer who is not in business, but if you can do this, it is a help. Dan Kennedy writes in his book, No BS Sales Success, “A prime consideration when packaging yourself is the first impression you give others. Psychologists tell us that most people form impressions of others in the first four minutes of meeting them and that 80% of the impression is based on nonverbal input. What you say has very little to do with it. We also know that people are very reluctant to change their first impressions.” People do judge books… and people… by their covers. The sooner you understand this human tendency, the faster you will achieve success. Dress and act the part – it’s so much easier this way. Charlie Seymour, Jr. presented this information at the Sales Summit for Business Development Resources, where he served as guest lecturer, presenting timely information on Sales, Marketing and business Development Success. If you have a favorite marketing method and will share it with all of us, I'll be sure to include your name and contact information here in our Ezine. Share Your Marketing Ideas Here! |

Facebook. Twitter. Blogs. Bookmarking. Squeeze pages, sales pages, direct-response marketing. It’s enough to make your head spin, isn’t it.
There’s WAY too much for any one individual to stay on top of so if you’re feeling a bit frustrated by all the names or all the work it takes to keep up on it, you’re in good company.
But that doesn’t get things done for you, does it? Just because others can’t do it or can’t stay up on everything doesn’t mean that you should take comfort in that.
So, week after week we’ll cover bits and pieces of Web 2.0, Social Marketing.
Let’s start with Twitter (and see the Special Offer of the Week below as well).
For now, just go start a Twitter account. Start sending some “tweets” and see who sends you tweets back.
“@” sign tweets means someone is responding to you in a way that others who get his or her tweets can see. DM (or Direct Messages) are just between the sender and the recipient. Be sure to keep these two straight – I’d hate for you to give the secret recipe to your grandmothers cinnamon buns to EVERYONE (when you were just sending it to me – I LOVE cinnamon buns, so all terrific recipes are welcome!).
And before you start sending tweets, decide Who You Are.
“WHAT? I know who I am, Charlie – why do I need to decide that?”
There are two main types of accounts on Twitter – those for people who send notes to everyone and anyone and those who send notes to a specified niche of interested people. Personally, I have 10 accounts ranging from my photography interests to politics to the one for UltimateWAHDads. So when I tweet for my UltimateWAHDads account, I don’t talk about photography.
See what I mean?
But my good buddy Bill tweets about everything on his account, even though he’s primarily a Social Marketer.
So decide that, start twittering, and we’ll pick this up next week.

Here’s a great phrase I learned years ago from a friend. I was writing The Hunchback of Notre Dame as a major musical and I sought the advice of Tony Award-winning Lyricist David Zippel. I went for a lyric-writing lesson but came away with much more. He told me that many of his friends think he’s just playing during the day since he works at home. “Come on, come to lunch with us.” “Hey, I can’t, I’m busy.” But that never seemed to work. However, when he discovered THIS phrase, everything improved: “I’m no a deadline, I can’t.” Wow… that’s always true. We ALWAYS have deadlines zooming around us. So I’ve used that line a lot when I know I have to work but friends feel I should be playing with them. So… back to my writing here: I’m on a deadline! What do you find toughest about working on your own? Tell us what we can do to help. |

Twitter – how do you build a large list, especially when you’re just starting out? My buddy Bill Crosby has created a system that is super hot for creating a large Twitter list. If you’re new to Twitter, seeing this short video might help you better understand the benefits of Twitter. If you’ve been using Twitter for a while but your list is still puny, this is a great way to increase the size of your list much more quickly. |

WHY DO SOME PEOPLE HAVE MORE CREDIBILITY AND INFLUENCE THAN OTHERS? Credibility stems from that elusive thing called perception. People’s perception of you may be based on what they hear others say about you, the way you talk and act, or their previous experience with you. Credibility is based on a track record – either real or perceived. Those who are most credible over the long haul - |
