Ultimate Dads Success Ezine 013
Our older daughter, Stacie, was just home. She lives in Boston and loves to root for the Red Sox while we root for the Philadelphia Phillies.
Having gone to undergrad near Boston, I usually root for their teams too… but NOT when they play OUR teams.
It’s important to reflect on what we did while she was here, so show how important family values are.
On Saturday night, Pam, Stacie, and I had dinner together at a local chain restaurant. Heck, they are flooding the market with coupons begging us to dine there, so we took them up on it.
We then went to see other daughter, Liz, in a cabaret hosted by her fiancé, Chris. It was a fund-raiser for Chris’s music theater camp this summer and helped raise enough funds for him to build his set for “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.”
Liz and Chris each sang and did well – Pam, Stacie, and I had a great time.
Sunday, after church, Pam, Stacie, and I sent to brunch at “The Home” where my parents are residents. Pam and I had been in church with Mom and Dad and then the five of us had a leisurely brunch together.
Our family often celebrates around a dining table.
Stacie then went to my sister’s home where she saw a slideshow (well, digital images on a huge flat screen TV) of their trip to Ireland.
After that, Stacie came home to see Pam and me and we watched a few Food Network shows and enjoyed small talk.
This morning, Stacie packed up her two cats (which Pam had been babysitting in our basement away from our dog and two cats) and went back to Boston.
Family times. Small times. Seemingly unimportant times. Seldom red-letter days of huge events and gathers. But rather times that bring us together as a family.
And that makes all the difference.

How Do Colors and Music Change Our Moods?Colors and music seep into our subconscious to soothe or seduce our soul. Red or blaring trumpets can trigger our anger or angst. Blue or violins can calm our nerves. Green or drums can invigorate us with energy and determined action. It’s both amusing and amazing that music and colors may have more power over us than great ideas or wise friends. Today I tell you that people ask me if they should put their videos on YouTube and other video-sharing sites That’s easy for me to respond to: Yes… and No! YES: Always put your blog and podcast videos online at as many site as will take them. You then have lots of individual pages to get ranked in Google by doing it that way. For you see, each video is another search result in Google, and you want as many as you can have, especially if you use good keywords in the descriptions and tagging areas. NO: Don’t use video on YouTube and then embed it in your website. “But Charlie, how do I see it on my website, then?” Simple… if you follow my lead and use WordPress as your website software, you will be able to post audio and video directly into WordPress. I post each video FOUR times, actually: 1) to YouTube as an MP4, which gives me the best quality. 2) to Facebook – it requires a direct upload and I use my flv file for that 3) to TubeMogul to syndicate it everywhere except to YouTube and 4) to my own website. Why don’t I use YouTube, Viddler, or one of the other video-hosting sites on my own website? Three reasons: 1. The Quality – videos fed directly from your server (or S3) is the highest quality you can have, assuming you used a good product to change it from avi to flv. 2. YouTube is working to make money so it puts ads in the “lower third” of your video window and people pay them to do it. Suppose that ad was for a competitor or for a product you don’t believe it (it LOOKS like YOU sponsored the ad when it runs on top of your video in the lower third). I don’t want ads on top of my videos when they play on MY site, so I always do a feed directly to each player on my site. 3. YOU want the “link juice” for having your videos played, so why give it away to YouTube. And besides, the statistics that YouTube collects – it only keeps the stats for videos played ON ITS SITE, not those embedded elsewhere… so if getting high view-counts on YouTube is important to you, send people directly to the page of the video ON YouTube and have them watch it there… you’ll see your “number of plays” count go up when you do (NOT that I’m recommending that you do it that way, I’m just saying….) Here’s a short video playing on MY site (which also has a version on YouTube) so you can see the quality: Turn Your Words Into Gold – Click Here To See Now! What Men Want in a Relationship This is good information for both men AND women. Share it with a loved one as this series continues! What women think men want from them causes women to have resentment and anger toward men, and feel hopeless about ever developing a wonderful, warm, romantic partnership. What men think women want from them causes them much of the same feelings and frustration. The sad part is that it does not have to be this way, if only we would realize that both men and women are human beings first and pretty much want the same thing. But, you don't have to take my word for this. Discover what men said they want from women as contrasted with what women think men want. You'll also find tips for women to give men what they want, attract a great man, and create a wonderful relationship. 2. Men want self-sufficient, secure, confident women. Men want a woman to choose them out of want rather than out of desperation — either materially or emotionally. Men need to be wanted and needed by their partners, but they want their partners to have a separate identity. Men want a woman to be active and independent, to have her own friends and interests. On the other hand, men treasure time spend with a loving partner. Women think men don't want women to need them. Women think men do not need or appreciate time spent together as a couple. Women believe that showing a man he is needed will turn him off and **A Tip for Women** Men want what women want — a whole partner. One powerful way to attract a great man and build a vibrant relationship is to create a full, rewarding life for your own fulfillment.
