WalkAbout Marketing – some explanation is due. (This explanation is the same as page 01, but just in case you didn't take time to read it, here is a really short version!)
I've not been good at keeping to an exercise regimen but I'm terrific at working and working really hard and long. So, one day after some chest tightening, I decided I really needed to get back walking. Not to the gym, but through my neighborhood.
So… strap on the digital recorder (I use an iPod with Belkin plugin recorder plus a small lav microphone), Walk About the neighborhood with my clipboard loaded with marketing stories, and then think and talk.
That's it. That's how this was born.
Good lessons. Sometimes deceptively simple lessons. But still lessons from which we can all learn and earn.
Come back – I'll keep adding to this. Heck… I need the exercise and I NEVER run out of things to talk about when it comes to marketing!
And as I mentioned before, when I have some additional resources for you, I show a link under the MP3. I recommend everything I show (and receive a small commission on things you purchase).
Best,

Sometimes we just need to get away. As much as we work at staying focused and energized and looking ahead the way a good entrepreneur must, we fall victim to our own myopic attention and need to get away to clear our brains. Charlie did that: he slept on the floor of a church near for five nights, helped middle school students learn some of the valued spiritual lessons of life, and was totally refreshed himself. Here is his segment while in Nashville, TN.
And be sure to find his video journal about this trip on his RaisingGreatFamilies.com website. See Charlie Seymour Jr's video blog about Mission Possible 4 in Nashville – Click Here!

WE are our own brands. How we talk, dress, think, market, sell our businesses. How we return phone calls, keep timely appointments, get our work done when we say it will be done. You don't create a "brand" from thin air, you LIVE your brand through everything you do. And clients notice.
Here's Charlie talking about Salesmanship – something he knows LOTS about, having sold $247,368,657.97 as a salesman and marketed more than $1 billion as the Vice President of Marketing in addition to his own marketing-consulting firm and photography business. Listen as he gives examples of why you need to sell yourself first to gain new business and keep people coming back to you over and over again!
In this episode, Charlie mentioned his PowerIntroductionsTM program, which you can still access FREE (before it becomes part of one of his information products). Access it here: PowerIntroductionsTM – When You Want Them To Remember You AFTER A Meeting – Click Here To Access!

Jeffrey J. Fox, one of Charlie's favorite business authors, makes great points about his Six Senses of Proactive Selling as detailed in his Secrets of Great Rainmakers: The Keys to Success and Wealth.
Listen as Charlie puts his own flavorings into the mix as he presents Jeffrey's ideas along with his own.

Do You Have The Right Stuff?
Inc Magazine had a short feature article: "Do You Have The Right Stuff – Before you start a company, ask yourself these sex questions"
Listen as Charlie presents these questions with his own, unique coloring to the picture. His years of being an entrepreneur, working for companies, seeing the large picture help him interpret this article and make it clear to you.
And in this episode, he mentions one of his favorite books/CDs: Michael E. Gerber's E-Myth Revisited. If you do not have your own copy of both, get them now: links are here:

Plus My Trip to Boston
Podcamp Boston 4, also known as #PCB4, was a terrific success on the beautiful UMass Boston campus. People came from near and far (Charlie traveled from Philadelphia, PA USA to get there) to share their knowledge and questions about the state of the art of podcasting (lots of Web 2.0 topics, really). Older daughter, Stacie Finnegan, and Charlie had dinner together on Friday evening and then it was all Podcamp from then on.
Listen as Charlie describes some of the lessons he learned over the extended weekend. The campus is idyllically situated along the water near Dorchester (and not far from the Boston International Airport), and short trips along the Red Line of the MBTA made it easy to get in and out of the city.

Step Into The 21st Century

3 Tools You Should Use
Charlie is always looking for new tools to use to market HIS and YOUR business… well, really: these tools just pop onto Charlie's radar simply because he is thinking about new and more effective ways to market.
In this episode, he presents three tools to help create the most spectacular shows on video (from still images) you may have ever seen; how to upload video directly to Facebook wherever you are; and how to be sure you have a voice recorder with you at all times (and it's what Charlie uses to record this WalkAbout Marketing Series).
Charlie mentions the Belkin recorder attachment for his iPod (which he uses to record these episodes). The link to Amazon is below.

Be Consistent With Your Message
How many times have you opened an envelope, an email, went to a website and what you saw didn't match what you THOUGHT you would see? How many times have you started working with someone believing in their reputation only to find that they didn't live up to it? How many times do people come to YOUR business and find that ALL that great marketing you've done doesn't equal the reality of working with you?
Remember the old headline, "SEX"? People used it to attract your attention but then you opened the envelope, website, whatever only to find it had NOTHING to do with sex. Though you and I don't do that, we have subtle inconsistencies that might be ruining our businesses.
Charlie reviews three examples to show you how important it is to have the message match the reality. Don't lose business because you don't take care of the small details. Let these examples illustrate how you can improve what you do and make more money doing it.

Using Facebook To Syndicate Your Thoughts
Charlie often talks about his "Universe Model of Marketing" (which he also calls his "Power Circles of Marketing"). This is where the SUN is at the center, PLANETS circle the sun, and STARS circle the planets and the sun.
Your main website is at the center (so think of it as your energy site… your SUN). Planets going around the sun can be Hubpages, WordPress.com and Blogger blogs, videos on YouTube et al, Squidoo, and more. And circling all of this are the stars including Twitter, Bookmarking sites, and Article sites.
In this episode of WalkAbout Marketing, Charlie focuses on Facebook and its Pages (as opposed to your personal Profile). Though Charlie will never get rid of his main website (so he can control it and not have someone else, with the click of a button, delete it), Facebook Pages are taking on a more important role as Facebook keeps changing and attracting more people and more businesses.
